Doppelganger Nightmare
It was the quiet that scared him, when he couldn't feel again. Not even a scream escaped as he struggled to hold onto himself, wouldn't fall again, had to be strong.
One of the wolves prowled at just the edge of his vision sometimes with a man's face as time slipped through his fingers again.
He felt someone chipping away at his transformed flesh before he finally woke, trembling and unbelieving that he was in Milliways.

In the early years of their reign, the young Kings and Queens of Narnia strove to learn and understand Narnia. Their studies were aided by a variety of scholars throughout Narnia and Archenland who took great joy in finally studying books that had been secreted away by the White Witch.
The trading of knowledge and learning complemented by laughter became the hallmark of Caer Paravel, which soon was seen as truly the heart of Narnia again.
Though their studies in the arts of war were not neglected so that Narnia need never again fear invasion for High King Peter and King Edmund did their best to insure that if they were attacked, they would be first in attack and last in retreat.

The world changes and the snow stops falling on the Witch's house.
Spring is in Narnia as Aslan walks and the Sons of Adam and Daughters of Eve gather together at the Stone Table to end Winter forever.
A table breaks and Old Magic from the Dawn of Time moves in Narnia as two girls grow up in the course of a strange and complicated night.
In time a statue is found, a faun in pain that a Lion's breath restores.

He had a day of grace before they came, wolves circling as the door was burst open.
Tumnus stood and tried not to tremble as Maugrim growled through the warrant,
"The former occupant of these premises, the Faun Tumnus, is under arrest and awaiting his trial on a charge of High Treason against her Imperial Majesty Jadis, Queen of Narnia, Chatelaine of Cair Paravel, Empress of the Lone Islands, etc., also of comforting her said Majesty's enemies, harbouring spies and fraternizing with Humans.
signed MAUGRIM, Captain of the Secret Police, LONG LIVE THE QUEEN."
As it was read, his home, his father's home was taken apart before his eyes, if they could break something they did and Tumnus wished to cry out and tremble. Yet he couldn't, he would not betray Lucy that way, he would be strong and be a true Narnian.
Always growling, Maugrim and his men paced Tumnus trying to make him respond and finally had to simply lead him through the snow towards Her House as his home stood like a wound.

The scones are not doing what they're supposed to. Tumnus is glaring at them as he's rather covered with flour.

No one has come knocking at his door from the White Witch and Tumnus has been thinking more about what his father did for Narnia and how he might help.
For so long, its seemed impossible and so cold but now he has a bit of hope. Whenever he doubts and fears what may happen, he looks at Lucy's handkerchief and thinks of her warmth.
The days go by as they always do with cold and snow as he does his errands and keeps an eye out just in case Lucy comes back. Perhaps there may be a next time though he's not sure how he feels about that.
He wishes her safe and well yet he misses her so distracts himself with baking; brown bread, and scones in every flavor he can think of.

She disappeared into the snow covered trees and he just watched, twisting her handkerchief in his hands.
Did that truly happen? Was she safe?
The walk home seems so much longer with the fear of what's behind the trees.
Somehow the Witch's spies must know but he couldn't turn Lucy over, it wouldn't be right. She's just a sweet child, best she's safe and never finds her way to Narnia again.
