The scones are not doing what they're supposed to. Tumnus is glaring at them as he's rather covered with flour.

"Perhaps you'll be better able to if you should meet my brothers and sister someday!"

Assuming that they ever come, rather than just thinking she's playing a silly game.

Lucy scowls for a moment before being distracted by peering at a quilt.

"I should like that. Oh is something wrong?"

The kettle is whistling but he doesn't like to see her so unhappy.

"No--no, not really," Lucy decides, after thinking about it. "The kettle's ready, isn't it?"

"Oh yes."

He pours out the water and gives her another look,

"If you're sure since I'm glad to listen."

"That is because you're lovely that way, Mr Tumnus," she says with a smile, and then admits, "I'm--I'm a bit cross with my siblings at the moment. I'm not sure I should really like to talk much about it, though."

He nods and brings the pot over, giving her a serious look,

"Why shouldn't you talk about it?"

"I suppose I'm not sure I want to very much," she says slowly after a moment.

"They upset me."

Tumnus leans over and squeezes her hand,

"I'm sorry they did that and hopefully they'll apologize to you."

"Perhaps." She smiles tentatively after a minute. "Perhaps when they meet you they'll say so."

His smile is rather cautious,

"I'd like to meet them someday."

"Oh, I should like you to! Quite a bit!"

Lucy's face brightens, and then the smile fades a bit as she remembers that Edmund, at least, has been to Narnia.

"--Do you think we could have tea now, perhaps?"

"Oh yes, shouldn't let it get cold."

It does him a lot of good to hear her say that, he was rather foolishly worried, she wouldn't want her family to know him.
